Lisa’s Journey, Week 50: The ‘Golden Week’

I have found this week pretty enjoyable. I walked plenty and enjoyed it. Glenorchy is a small wee place, but it is cool because everything is within walking distance. The weather has been somewhat settled for the most part. This week it has only rained on the last couple of days.

We went up the Greenstone/Caples track. It was very cool to look back across the lake from a different view point. If you’re ever there, it is worth the drive around! It’s funny when you talk to some of the locals. They all said the same thing, ‘I’ve not been over there in ages’, ‘I must do that walk again’. Kinda true. When we have it on our doorstep we tend to take it for granted. We need to be tourists more in our own home towns!!

I have a love of stones/rocks, so the lake shores have rekindled my romance, and have been my happy place. It has been fun scouting for the unusual stones and we have a few that are coming home with us! I’ve also developed a love for swing bridges. The kids thought they were rather novel and so did I, except I felt like I was half cut walking across some of the more ‘less’ stable ones.

It has also been a week of relaxation and reflection and I found that by the lake. It’s such a difference to the ocean we’re used too. The skimming competitions were getting quite competitive!! I absolutely love the reflections that are cast. Wanaka has ‘The Wanaka Tree’. Glenorchy has ‘The Glenorchy Trees’. And I just love them. They add just that little something to your photo.

The Glenorchy Trees

So I hoped you enjoyed my fitness blog (that’s not really about fitness this time haha) or at least the photos. Well it is kind of fitness related. I did walk to get the photos.

If life throws rocks at you… Stack them!!!!

Enjoy your week.

In 2018 Lisa took up the challenge of getting fit to do the 10km Kaikoura Whale Run. That ticked off, she has agreed to continue writing with the hope that she can inspire even the most stubborn (such as herself) to get out there, set challenges and make positive change in their life. No one said it will be easy, but it will be worth it!!

Check in next Tuesday for her next article.
