If you were to ask me this time last year if I would ever do a training workout on Christmas, or honestly even Christmas Eve I would have probably giggled and said “it’s my time to rest”.
But this year on Christmas I did a 2 hour bike ride and a 10 minute run just like I do every Sunday, this is to get used to the legs after the bike. I also had my Saturday long run with a couple sprints at the end on Christmas Eve, and I wouldn’t change it for the world. The fact that I could stay consistent and still do it even if I wasn’t 100% into it, and breaking through that mental block of “it’s Christmas why would I train”.
Means that I have overcome making unnecessary excuses all the time. This isn’t saying that you should take rest days but rest days when you need them not when you want them. for me this is a step forward and a step definitely in the right direction.
Merry Christmas to everyone!
