I’m now in the month of my next race, and I am already feeling like a stronger and faster running from the increase in pace and power I have been using in the past 2 weeks. The pace at first felt less sustainable for a long period of time as I was so used to the old pace, but with the consistent use of the pace it has allowed my body to adapt and feel more efficient at the new pace.
I have surprised myself with the time it has taken for me to adapt to the point I have, already making my confidence through running faster, and the confidence in my ability to perform at my best at the time. Over the coming weeks I will continue to further adapt.
This leads me to hope I can sustain a strong pace throughout the 11km race as part of the Auckland marathon. With the variation of trainings through running has helped as well as there is a balance each week of what they target and the level and time they are done at.
Having a different training type helps my body adapt through different aspects as when I wasn’t coached by Ray I used to run the averagely the same distance at a fast speed every time, inconsistently too.
With this, it didn’t let my body work or recover efficiently meaning I wasn’t improving at the optimum rate it can. With the help of Ray it has made me see the effectiveness variation and consistency can do specific to my goals and recovery.
Another aspect he has helped me see is the benefits having cross training and sports can have on my preformance and how it can help sustain interest and change of use of running and endurance.
