Over the past 2 weeks I have been training the majority of days leading up to a assessment and first aid course to become a fully qualified pool lifeguard, this training required both in and out of water training consisting different rescue techniques and tows, pool and facility maintenance and lots of reading on safety and procedures.
This was done through the time of my regular training so I was having to try different time management to keep consistent as I have noticed so much improvement through my consistency over the past month.
I successfully did this through waking up early, training in new scenes and using rest efficiently to make sure I had enough time and energy to complete them. I have learnt that with training I still have the same amount of time in a day as I did before so time isn’t created but made to train and I have to find the time to make it work for me.
For my most recent long run I drove myself a town over and completed it along the connecting rail trail as I usually run the part in my town, which I have been doing for the past year which can become very repetitive and wanted to try a new scene to see how my body and mind would work with it.
I was pleased that the time and distance seemed to go by quicker as there was new scenery and parts to think about as I didn’t know every turn and bridge, even though I did get slightly lost at the beginning.
Not so exciting about mid-way to my half way point under some big trees along the side of the trail I felt a heavy hit on my head, thinking something fell I looked up and saw a magpie getting ready to swoop down and hit me again, obviously it had a nest and was being protective. I decided to keep my hat on for the run back as if it hit my head without it, it may hurt me.
It did scare me a bit but there was no other way back to my car or to stop it from happening. Again on the way back I was getting swooped and squawked at for the next 100m. Through the run I definitely go through different feelings of how energised I am and at the end of this run I was very awake and ready. I completed this run starting at 6:30 AM to beat any heat as my body struggles to cope, meaning I was finished nice and early to get home and recover for the next week ahead.
