Fuelling has been something that I have recently been trying to focus on. Trying to make sure I am getting the right amount of energy to fuel the exercise I am putting my body through as well as day to day activities and then refuelling post workout and throughout the day.
With the changing in my training focus I didn’t correctly alter my fuelling leading me to not having enough to power me through to my optimum abilities, over time I have noticed it more and more so am now trying to make an effort to get both the right amount and the right kinds of foods to fuel me through.
Already I have noticed a change in the way I feel consistently throughout the day and how I feel in between workouts and making sure that if I feel a energy decrease or a sign of hunger to listen to my body and to give it what it needs.
Through workouts I feel stronger and over time I will build up more and more to help with the speed and optimum recovery time and amount through every day.
I have learnt that fuelling is just as important as the workout itself or even so more as without it, I wouldn’t be able to perform and feel my best making me not enjoy the training as much and not improve to the point that I could be which effects the rate of race day performance.
As well as refuelling over the holidays I have been trying to get outside more and explore in ways other than my training to keep myself from getting into a cycle and making it more exciting and more variation of time spent outdoors and doing activities.
Even just a walk around a new place or reading outside but again making sure I’m fuelling myself with enough to get me through everything I want to do day to day to enjoy it fully.
I’m excited to see how much just a small change can help me improve over time and help me keep the love that I have for my running and trainings outside.
