This week I hit a milestone that I was hoping to reach but wasn’t expecting to this quickly due to the changes I’ve had through my training and bulk of it.
I’ve always seen things about breaking the 20minutes mark in the 5km and hadn’t reached it, though my time wasn’t far off and a 5km segment from my 11km race I still wasn’t certain on my capability to do it, even clicking the starting timer I didn’t have full confidence in my performance and just decided to go for it and see what I could do without having full pressure.
After the first couple hundred metres I could start to see the comfortability in the paces I was holding I knew that the chances of reaching it were there, I broke the run down into 2,2,1 going strong, then holding what I can and finishing with what I have, having this helped show me my capabilities. I’m now going to have to set a new goal to try and achieve knowing that I am capable of more than I knew.
