This week was a week of milestones for me, as well as it being the first full week at full swing towards my races in Timaru now less than 3 weeks away, I also hit some personal goals outside of my running. On Wednesday I had my final school exam. This means I will never have to sit another school exam or study for one in better terms. As well as that, I finished off my final extra internal assessment achieving my excellence endorsement and being the first of my year group and maybe the only to do so.
This was a goal I set myself from the start of the year, although it wasn’t necessarily needed for university or scholarships I didn’t want everything I did to be for something and this was for myself. I wanted to show myself that if I wanted something that yes I could achieve it even if I had to do extra or take time out of other areas to compensate and help me reach it.
Yes, I could have completed almost 5 assessments less but now that it’s done that extra work doesn’t bother me as it helped me reach this accomplishment and achievement that extra work showed me what little things here and there and balancing life can achieve.
In life, with my training, work, academics and social life it’s all a balance, to be able to do one I have to do another and sometimes to do one I have to slightly sacrifice another but it’s all a circle together that makes me me, and having a variety allows me to always enjoy each area at its best.
Seeing that I can achieve well in academics lets me see I can achieve high in running or anything, the skills I use to reach goals isn’t different necessarily because the activity is different I just have to apply it to fit appropriately.
An extra add on is I also passed my full licence on Friday so another box to tick off my to do list and let’s me not have to worry about it in the future, which is another skill I use is getting something done now gets rid of it later, the same way I train in the morning lets me be available for the rest of the day as well as not overthink it and procrastinate the day away but getting up and going. Learning that everything helps everything but also everything hurts everything if done wrong has been a slow process but now that I do I can use it to my advantage to help me succeed in all areas of my life.
