This week I competed at the Waikato cross country championships as a senior girl. Going into this race I knew there was a big number of amazing runners, all the girls from my age group last year and the age group above had combined and they even said this was a the strongest group of runners they have had in years.

Today I competed in my Thames Valley Cross Country which is the next level from my school event. I went into the race with the mind set of knowing I was capable of doing well but still have competitors with a high ability of doing well as well. This course has one large hill and this year I had to complete this hill two times, the course was muddy slippery and wet, so I knew that it wasn’t going to be a fast timed race.

This week I had my school cross country, this is my first year as a senior so running slightly further, for my school event we still run the same as everyone else due to a lack of space to run the extra distance. I go to a pretty small school so the age groups aren’t massive but I knew I still had others who where capable of pulling something out of the bag so couldn’t just take it easy.

This week my school winter sports started, this year I am playing hockey and football. Both of these require high intensity sprints over a short distance and use different muscles and movements that my body is used to doing, because of this after both of these games my muscles all over my body ached in places I don’t usually feel.

This week I competed in the New Zealand Secondary Schools Triathlon Championships in Wanaka. This is a long travel as this is the South Island and I’m from the North Island, we left on the Tuesday and flew from Auckland airport to Queenstown as there are no direct flights to Wanaka.
