Monday’s with Jessica [Ep 18] – Thames Valley CHAMPION

Today I competed in my Thames Valley Cross Country which is the next level from my school event. I went into the race with the mind set of knowing I was capable of doing well but still have competitors with a high ability of doing well as well. This course has one large hill and this year I had to complete this hill two times, the course was muddy slippery and wet, so I knew that it wasn’t going to be a fast timed race.

Monday’s with Jessica [Ep 17] – School Cross Country

This week I had my school cross country, this is my first year as a senior so running slightly further, for my school event we still run the same as everyone else due to a lack of space to run the extra distance. I go to a pretty small school so the age groups aren’t massive but I knew I still had others who where capable of pulling something out of the bag so couldn’t just take it easy.

This week my school winter sports started, this year I am playing hockey and football. Both of these require high intensity sprints over a short distance and use different muscles and movements that my body is used to doing, because of this after both of these games my muscles all over my body ached in places I don’t usually feel.

This week I was down in the South Island and due to not having time and an area to complete any runs I did not get any done. But I still stayed active with doing lots of walking, hiking, biking and doing active activities.

This week didn’t have too much excitement in it as it had in the last few. But something that did catch my mind was my fitness. During my swimming this week we did some longer and stronger sets like 400m repeats.

Monday’s with Jessica [Ep 12]: New Zealand Secondary Schools Triathlon Championships

This week I competed in the New Zealand Secondary Schools Triathlon Championships in Wanaka. This is a long travel as this is the South Island and I’m from the North Island, we left on the Tuesday and flew from Auckland airport to Queenstown as there are no direct flights to Wanaka.

Monday’s with Jessica [Ep 11] – Waikato Champs & School Triathlon

This week I had 2 events on, one was Waikato athletics where I completed in the 3,000m event and the other was my school triathlon. At Waikato athletics I had a early race so the weather was good while I ran, I went into this race knowing there was some strong competition who train in this type of event and distance.

This week I competed at the Thames Valley Secondary Schools Athletics Championships which is the meet before Waikato so all the towns surrounding mine, at this meet I competed in the 1,500m and 3,000m.

This week my time management skills have really been tested, I had a lot of extra activities this week making it difficult to fit in all my trainings planned, I managed to complete all my trainings during the week but did have to make some adjustments to fit it in with my schedule.
