This week I attended a school camp on an island as a leader for the younger year groups, this camp already had some high physical activities and lots of movement but I knew that I needed to try get my scheduled runs in if I wanted to stay consistent with my training and being my best for my race in the next 2 weeks.

Over the past 2 weeks I have been training the majority of days leading up to a assessment and first aid course to become a fully qualified pool lifeguard, this training required both in and out of water training consisting different rescue techniques and tows, pool and facility maintenance and lots of reading on safety and procedures.

I’m now in the month of my next race, and I am already feeling like a stronger and faster running from the increase in pace and power I have been using in the past 2 weeks. The pace at first felt less sustainable for a long period of time as I was so used to the old pace, but with the consistent use of the pace it has allowed my body to adapt and feel more efficient at the new pace.

This week has been different to usual as I wasn’t running as I had gained a foot injury the day after my recent 5km time trial. I made sure to look after it as I knew if I keep pushing through I wouldn’t heal as fast making it worse in the long run.

This week I had just come off a solid week of training and continuing into another. I had a 5km time trial to complete, going into the run I didn’t know what to expect as I haven’t really done a specific time trial for the 5km distance, and didn’t know where I thought my levels were at from them dropping sightly in previous weeks.

Every week I have a football game on Saturdays but this week I had to play 2 as my sisters team needed a extra player, doing this meant that both days of the weekend where taken which is when my long trainings are planned for, this makes it difficult to try fit in as many as possible to get the best results out of it.
